New town planning and structural planning for the new government area in Nansha district

In the context of the urban development-plan of Guangzhou-Nanshan, an urban development concept for the district of Nanshan was developed. The aim was to create an administration and government centre with a mixture of working, education, housing and leisure.
The fundamental idea is the development of a novel type of government by the use of spatial meshed building structures with great flexibility in design, height and breadth of the particular buildings. They are connected with public roofed paths, places and courtyards. These attractive connecting axes are conducive to the communication between the buildings.
