Development Planning of the City Centre
In recent decades, the development of Münchingen has strongly been influenced by the growth of residential and commercial areas at the edges of the district. The city center, however, has not substantially benefitted from the recent urban growth pattern, but has functional and creative potential for improvement.
The development concept for the city center of Münchingen, prepared through analysis of the characteristics of the district, presents planning scenarios for the aesthetic enhancement and design unity of the planning area. On the one hand, there is the preservation of the rural character and the site-specific elements of Münchingen, on the other hand, urban and architectural impulses should be developed. The concept was developed under the premise that Münchingen community members are actively involved in the planning process. Community involvment included meetings and events with the local citizens' initiatives, agenda groups, and citizens. Implementation of the planning measures can ultimately only succeed through participation of citizens, the city department and local stakeholders.
